Hidden Symbols of the Juggler card

Summary of the Juggler’s symbols: Search for perfection, experimentation, going beyond one’s own limits.

Although his illustration is a juggler, he represents the young initiate in magic. He holds in his left hand the wand of command which symbolizes the primordial fire. In this, he begins all action. He shows with his right hand several instruments, which are:

  • A glass, or a cup, symbol of the Water Element and wisdom.
  • A knife, symbol of Air and courage (sword).
  • Dice, symbols of the stability of the Earth and the power of the will.

His clothes are multicolored, but red predominates. Indeed: red is representative of activity, energy, youth. His hat has a very curious shape: we see a lying eight, symbol of infinity. We find the golden color on the ground and on the Juggler hair: it is the symbol of the search for perfection.

The number 3. There are three showy legs at the table and three dominant colors (red, green and yellow). The three symbolizes alchemical synthesis, duty, as well as the possibility of canceling opposition and resistance.

The Juggler associations

The Juggler corresponds to Sefira Kether: crown of the cabalistic tree of life.
It is also associated with Aleph, the first letter of the Hebrew alphabet. Indeed: the movement of the Bateleur’s arms seems to trace the letter.
